Description:
A powerful new simulation game that lives up to its name, allowing you to 'freelance' outside the game storylines, just like the older classics Elite and Privateer. Mouse-based gameplay eliminates the need for a joystick entirely, allowing both newbies and experts in the simulation genre to just 'jump right in' on a smooth learning curve. LAN or server play allows for an immersive multiplayer experience in addition to the 14-mission campaign.

Linear Space Grind

Plot Railroading at its most boring.

The concept was great. Freelancing in a dynamic set of galaxies, choosing your own route to glory. If only. The story is actually very linear and revolves around a very basic plot. There are a few twists in the plot, but nothing to be called amazing, and also to acknowledge plot twists one must affirm that there is a plot. There are no real new rewards past the first few minutes, and anything further requires a long amount of grinding, either doing kill missions that are extremely repetitive or hauling cargo which is pure repetition. In all it lacks the pizazz of a true classic, although the game-play is interesting for the first little while, before one may realise that 'freelance' here is just as limited and linear as most games.
