This movie manages brilliance in a very controlled and certain way. Boasting an amazing soundtrack and talented actors, the film manages to have a very indie feel to it, giving it an endearing edge up on the competition of its genre. As an extremely well done revenge story with what would be a massive twist for a movie of its type, the information surrounding the reason for the poisoning is very slowly fed, and what seems like the truth isn't always the truth. However, it is a basic drama, so don't look for any high caliber plot twists here. The soundtrack is done superbly, holding both old favourites and new beats to keep the atmosphere of urgency or excitement alive. For those that have a fancy towards it, the movie has many subtle moments of pitch black humour and slapstick, though again being primarily an action movie, this content just dances around the edges of film, keeping it interesting. As far as character continuity goes, the characters are well introduced and we are given good impressions as to how they matter to the other characters. Statham plays his piece wonderfully, being perfectly suited to the part and given excellent supporting actors. The movie manages to hold its atmosphere beautifully, for example, the movie is in the hitman world, so it has the complementary nudity that is used to pique the atmosphere, but the movie itself is clever enough not to need to be supported by the over sized jiggling bosoms of numerous naked women.

The plot itself makes sense, which is what we really need in an action movie, straightforwards, honest plot. The cinematography is wonderfully done, allowing the viewer to very easily slip into that wonderful feeling of absorption. The film is one of those gems, much like Hard Candy, that utilises an extremely small cast, but manages to do it without detracting in anyway at all from the overall feel.

A movie that is truly excellent and one of my all time favourite movies simply for how enjoyable it is. The movie is fun to watch, and it doesn't get boring. The only problem is the insufferable retardation of the leading lady, but even then the reason for it becomes apparent.

If you have seen the Transporter movies and liked the type of action offered there, you will be happy to know that Crank is on par. Jason Statham continue to make action packed movies, and Crank might be the most action packed to date. Some of the scenes are great, and personally I enjoyed every minute. Course if you like action movies with a belivable plot, this flick might not be your cup of tea. If you are in mood for raw action, Crank will quench your thirst for sure.
