Superb insight into our nation's fragile state of national security 5 out of 6 stars [ ? ]

I had heard very little about this movie before I had seen it. I vaguely recall the news story in 2001 about Hanssen, but if you don't quite remember the details, this movie will jog your memory and paint a picture of what happened. Granted it's a movie, so I sincerely doubt that it's completely realistic or true, but the general story is there and of course accurate.

Hanssen was a veteran FBI boss who sold secrets to the Russians. That part is, of course, true and it makes for a very interesting story. Chris Cooper is back in another spy movie for this one, portraying a very convincing Hanssen, and newcomer Ryan Phillippe seems to do a decent job of playing the fresh FBI agent who helps topple Hanssen.

I think this movie, and the story it explains, does a great job of showing us how fragile our state of national security is and how we will never know exactly how compromised our country is even several decades into the future. If you want a refreshing, and well done, reminder of how spy games are ran then this movie is it.
