An epic story

I'm a big fan of the books Tolkien wrote, and it was with great joy I read about Peter Jackson making movies based on the books. Obviously, there are a lot of things to cover and Jackson had to cut parts from the books to be able to keep it to three movies, and even then they are all very long.

In this first movie, he cut out the part about the old forest and Tom Bombadill, which was very sad, since it's such a charming part of the books. Jackson has managed to capture much of the charm and humour from the books still though and it all feels very epic. The scenery is great. The movies were filmed in New Zealand and it really looks as though it is described in the books.

The action scenes are very well done and it all builds up nicely to the second movie, which I'll also review.
