The Tony Award-winning Broadway production Hairspray comes to the movie screen sixteen years after the first show. The movie features new material as well as original material based on John Water's cult classic about star-struck teenagers on a local Baltimore dance show. A fantastic lineup with the likes of John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Queen Latifa and Brittany Snow is in this comedy which delivers a fun and energetic musical.

I got my hands on this DVD and though I really don't like musicals I decided to give it a chance. (mostly because of Christopher Walken) I guess it's pretty rare to have so many big names in a musical, but Hairspray is a pretty special movie that must have been appealing to the actors. They all do a great job as far as I can tell (not really used to watching musicals) I watched the whole movie, and I really didn't think I would. The story is from the 60 where rock music and TV are very popular. We follow a teen girl who struggle with her looks and weight, but despite her problems she is determent to be a star on a TV show. She also fall in love with a handsome guy. I guess you can say this is a typically teen movie where the Hollywood ending is pretty obvious. Not a bad movie, but not my cup of tea...
