The ending of the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy

I was looking forward to this movie for many reasons. The main one was some form of "how in the world are they gonna bring him back" for "Dead Man's Chest". All in all it fell in line with all the movies that are coming out lately. Maybe I am a little spoiled from the Lord of the Rings trilogy of movies, but there have been very few movies that have lived up to and surpassed my expectations. And believe me I have been setting my expectations low.

A few quick observations about the movie.

#1 It coulda been 20 minutes shorter. I never thought I would say it but the fight scenes in the movie went too long. Some of the same stunts as previous movies. Only real innovation i saw from previous Pirates incarnations was the "monkey cannonball". And if thats the best i could say about the fight scenes, well, there ya go.

#2 Some of the quirkyness that they attributed to Jack Sparrow's char just went over the top in the Davy Jones' Locker portions. I love Depp as an actor but they tried a little too hard to give him free range in the "multiple Jacks".

#3 I know we have to have strong females in our movies, but Elisabeth yelling "Fire" on the cannons just got on my nerves.

Anyway, all that being said, I didn't hate the movie (even though it might sound like it). It was better than Dead Man's Chest. It is as good as most movies that are coming out these days (ugh don't get me started on the new Shrek). Main thing is it provided the one thing that the movie had to do...Closure.
