Resident Evil 0 is a direct prequel to the first Resident Evil game, detailing the events immediately before the Raccoon City mansion incident. The game features S.T.A.R.S. brave team member Rebecca Chambers and newcomer ex-convict Billy Coen as playable characters. Gameplay in Resident Evil 0 introduces several new elements to the series, including the ability to drop items at any time instead of storing them in a box in save rooms, as well as the option of switching from one playable character to another at will.
