Description:

Settlers of Catan is a multiplayer board game designed for 3-4 players (regular game) or 4-5 players (with expansions). Created by game designer Klaus Teuber, it was first published in Germany in 1995. Since then the game has gone on to reach international acclaim, selling over 11 million copies in over 20 langauges. The game is noted for having simple mechanics yet very dynamic gameplay. Players represent a group of settlers exploring and taming the uncharted Island of Catan. These new immigrants must compete for dominance as they expand their fledgling colonies through the building of additional settlements, roads, and villages by harvesting commodities from the land around you. Each turn a pair of dice are rolled to see which of the 5 different resource types are collected. Trading is an essential part of the game, either between players or at local seaports. The first player to achieve 10 points from a combination of roads, settlements, and special cards win.
