Speed Racer is a 2008 film directed and produced by the Wachowski Brothers, best known for their writing, direction, and production of The Matrix trilogy. Speed Racer, based on a 1960s Japanese anime cartoon, tells the story of the titular hero played by Emile Hirsch. A natural born racer, Speed wants to win the Casa Cristo and become the fastest racer in the world using his specially designed car, the Mach 5.

However, there’s much more to the tale then fast cars and finish lines. Speed is offered a lucrative deal to defect from the family business and race for Royalton Industries. He must face a tough decision and delve into the real motivation between Royalton and its partners. With the help of his girlfriend Trixie (Christina Ricci) and parents (John Goodman, Susan Sarandon), Speed will try to take the checkered flag and come out on top.
