Role Playing (Subscribe)

A role playing game is a game where the participants assume the role of a character and play a story as this character. The players usually have various statistical numbers and characteristics that are used when playing the character and this affects the outcome of actions and choices. The games have rules and guidelines for the players, but improvisation is often used. Dungeons & Dragons is the first commercially available role playing game and is a good example of a product that fits this category.
