Movies are split into sub-categories for the different movie genres. Every movie is presented as one product with information and reviews about it.
Categories
- Action (33)
- Action movies are usually fast paces, containing violence like shoot-outs, martial arts, killing and the likes. Typical movies that fit into this category are Die Hard series, Braveheart, Mission Impossible series etc.
- Adventure (12)
- Adventure movies usually contain exotic locations, a major hero, one or more villains and an over the top story. Movies that typically fit into this category are Indiana Jones movies, Pirates of the Carribean movies etc.
- Animation (8)
- Animation movies are hand drawn or computer generated movies where there are no live actors. Disney movies are a good example of animation movies.
- Anime (0)
- Anime movies are animation movies that originate from Japan for the most part. They have their roots from Japanese comic books called manga. Typical examples are Akira and Ghost in the Shell.
- Comedy (40)
- Movies that has the main purpose of making people laugh are considered comedy movies. Ace Ventura, Bevery Hills Cop and Mallrats are good examples.
- Crime (6)
- In the crime genre you will typically find movies where robbery or organised crime (Mafia) is a big part of the action.
- Documentary (3)
- Here you will find movies that try to document the reality and try to analyze various issues.
- Drama (35)
- Drama movies have realistic characters often dealing with themes such as alchoholism, racial prejudice, crime and corruption often put the characters in confilct with the socitey or themselves. Most film genres use dramatic elements, but in drama films the are the main element.
- Family (0)
- A family film have been written, directed, cast and acted so that it will appeal to all members of a typical family.
- Fantasy (8)
- Fantasy films usually involves make-believe creatures, magic or fantasy worlds. Although overlapping this genre is considered distinct from science fiction film and horror film.
- Horror (23)
- Horror movies are designed to inflict fear or fright to the viewer. Often you will see plots where evil forces, events, or characters, sometimes of supernatural origin, intrude into the everyday world.
- Musicals (3)
- The musical film genre have songs sung by characters interwoven into the narrative. The songs are used to develop the characters and advance the plot.
- Romance (5)
- Most movies have aspects or at least a subplot that involves romance between characters. In true romance movies the attraction between characters is the main plot.
- Science Fiction (10)
- Science fiction movies often use extra-terrestrial lifeforms, alien worlds, and time travel, often along with technological elements such as futuristic spacecraft, robots, or other technologies to build the plot around.
- Sports (2)
- Sports movies are very close to or can just as easily be put in the drama genre. Here you will find movies where characters are involved in sports.
- Thriller (14)
- The thriller genre often have many overlapping sub-genres. These are fast paced with frequent action and skilled heroes who oftem must prevent more powerful and better-equipped villains from suceeding with their evil plans.
- War (2)
- War movies often have warfare as the main plot, but also prisoners of war and military training can be found here.
- Westerns (2)
- Western movies tells stories primary from the later half of the 19th century. Westerns often paint a picture where primitive and obsolete ways of life are confronted with modern technological or social changes. This may be depicted by showing conflict between natives and settlers.
