Bon Jovi - Lost Highway
Bon Jovi keeps on rocking with his 10th studio album. This time around the bands music is influenced a bit by Nashville music as we can find some country between the rock. The first single off the album is "(You Want To) Make a Memory" and guests on the album include Big & Rich as well as LeAnn Rimes.
Chris Cornell
The former Soundgarden and Audioslave vocalist is out with his second soloalbum after his excellent "Euphoria Morning" from 1999. Cornell has one of our days most unique voices and the first single off his album was the brilliant song "You Know My Name", from Casino Royal, the latest James Bond movie. One of the highlighst of the album is the Michael Jackson cover "Billie Jean".
Interpol: Turn on the Bright Lights
Interpol's debut cd Turn on the Bright Lights is a post-punk, dirty, eerie trip into the underbelly of urban life and relationships therein. With two guitars, bass and drummer this 4 piece ensemble keeps it feet firmly to the ground and it's roots of Joy Division and other early 80's English punk bands. Paul Banks on lead vocals writes of a grimy, seedy city life that's backed by fast-paced drum beats and reverberating single note riffs.
Manic Street Preachers - Send Away The Tigers
This is the eight album from the Manic Street Preachers, and it sounds like they are back with a solid album. Political lyrics are obvious all around, and the lyrics are coated with majestic and pompeous sounds as well as punk sounds. "Your Love Alone Is Not Enough" is probably one of their best singles since "A Design For Life" and is a duet with Nina Person from The Cardigans.
Queens Of The Stone Age - Era Vulgaris
Josh Homme and the rest of the band are back with their fifth studio album. The album is inspired by Homme's daily drives through Hollywood. As always, the band is rock solid in their work. The band gives us Hendrix-rock, stacato bluesmetal, Nirvana-grunge and manic punk throughout their albums elleven songs. Guests on the album are Julian Casablanca from The Strokes, and Mark Lanega from The Screaming Trees.
Sick Puppies - Dressed Up As Life
Sick Puppies, an Australian rock trio, releases their US debut, Dressed Up As Life. Influenced by the likes of Silverchair, Sevendust, and Green Day, the pups bring their blend of indie rock and alternative metal stateside. This 12 track CD includes the singles "My World" and "All the Same," the latter of which had a video which was featured prominently on YouTube as "Free Hugs."
The Good, The Bad & The Queen - The Good, The Bad & The Queen
This album is a colaboration with Damon Albarn from Blur, The Clash bassist Paul Simonon, Verve guitarist Simon Tong and Fela Kuti/Africa 70 drummer Tony Allen. The album is a dark, rythmic and with some dub and doo-wop. A very original project.
The Killers - Sam's Town
This is the followup to The Killers well-received album "Hot Fuss". While their first album was influenced by bands like Blondie, Duran Duran and New Order, this one is more in the direction of Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and U2. The first single off the album is "When You Were Young".
Tom McRae - King Of Cards
On his fourth album, Tom McRae presents us with a somewhat unusual album showing bright and happy sides of himself, which can be heard through his first radio hit "Bright Lights". The album has a little for everyone though and those who prefer the more melancholy side of Tom should not worry.
Tool: 10,000 days
Tool is back. With only their fourth cd in a 15 year span and 5 years after their last release, Lateralus debuted at number one and sold over 2 million copies in the United States alone. 10,000 days picks right up where the group's evolution left off with song times going the distance from 7-12 mintues. Powerful vocals from Maynard James Keenan and the rock experience that Tool fans all over have been craving for five years has arrived.
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
Tori Amos brought back the singer/songwriter traditions of the 70's with her debut album. She is a mix of Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell, with her strong, honest and very emotionall songs. Her voice talent is amazing and she uses the piano very effectivly in her songs. The songs are stories telling about her religious upbringing, her childhood traumas and sex, self-discovery and unhappy relationships.
